Welcome to Swanage Army Link.

The Swanage Army Link is a dynamic association that has evolved over nearly 30 years between the Swanage Railway, the British Army, the People of Swanage and the Royal British Legion.

Regular ongoing visits by the Royal Corps of Signals soldiers are core to this Link, as is Team Herston, formed in 2007, bringing together local residents and ex soldiers who work regularly on our core project – the upkeep of Herston Halt.

More recently we have been proud to welcome Heroes Haven into the fold.

Inspired by Heroes Haven Swanage, and the prospect of supporting injured Forces personnel, Frank Roberts walked the 633 mile South West Coast Path during May and June 2011.

Along the route Frank was joined by a couple of scallywags, and there are some tall tales and many pictures under the SWCP banner on this site.

Heroes Haven – Swanage is very much a part of The Swanage Army Link. Initially setting out to raise £80,000 to provide a place of relaxation for the injured, over £260,000 has been raised to date.

We continue to support this worthy charity, and would ask you to quote SWCPwhen making any donations.

More information about the charity can be found on their website at http://www.heroes-haven.org.uk/ and you can donate by clicking the button below

PayPal - The safer, easier way to pay online.

If you are kind enough to use the button above to donate, please mention Frank Roberts and/or South West Coastal Path (SWCP) walk in the paypal 'message to seller' box.

You can find out more about the path on their official website at http://www.southwestcoastpath.com/

SWCP:Day 2

I awoke just in time for the 05:20 BBC R4 shipping forecast. This is nothing new as I have heard it a couple of times a week since my months of getting up to study my degree.... This morning I had a hangover.

SWCP:The start

Er..... the start!
I left the Gasgony with a good pec on the cheek from a relative stranger which really warmed my heart. The weather was fantastic walking weather when I left Minehead.

Patrick joined Frank on his walk of the SWCP over the weekend of 18th & 19th June 2011.

He wasasked for a brief report on the two days which he supplied but needed some editing to remove some home truths and 'plain talking' before they could be published!

Thanks very much for them though - they made the web man laugh!

I think Patrick summed it up in his reply to me:

I had a good weekend with Frank but bloody hell, I couldn't do what he has done.
